Advancing Autonomous Logistics: ALS Launches Malaysia’s First Remote Operations Centre

ALS has launched Malaysia’s first dedicated Remote Operations Centre (ROC) for autonomous logistics in Cyberjaya, in collaboration with Sidec and Cyberview.
The facility will serve as the operational command centre supporting autonomous vehicle trials along the 22km Cyberjaya Malaysia Autonomous Vehicle (MyAV) Route. Approved by the Ministry of Transport, the route provides a real-world environment for testing autonomous logistics vehicles alongside everyday traffic.
Autonomous does not mean operating without supervision.
From the ROC, trained operators can oversee vehicle operations using live video feeds, telemetry, route information and system diagnostics. This provides an additional layer of operational oversight as ALS’s Level 4 RoboVan navigates its approved operating environment.
As ALS Managing Director Alan Chong explained:
“Driverless doesn’t mean monitor-less.”
The principle reflects ALS’s approach to autonomous logistics: combining advanced vehicle technology with human oversight to support safety, accountability and operational reliability.
The MyAV Route gives ALS the opportunity to evaluate its autonomous technology across a variety of urban environments.
Originally introduced in 2020 as a 7km route and expanded to 22km in 2025, it now passes through business districts, educational institutions, MRT stations, commercial areas, intersections and pedestrian crossings.
For ALS, testing in these environments provides valuable insight into how autonomous logistics can perform beyond controlled environments and adapt to the realities of everyday operations.The Remote Operations Centre represents more than a facility for monitoring vehicles. Together with the public-road trials, it forms part of a wider effort to understand the infrastructure, operational processes and safeguards required for autonomous logistics at scale.
Findings from the trials are expected to contribute towards the development of future standards and regulatory frameworks for autonomous logistics in Malaysia.
For ALS, this is another step towards turning autonomous logistics from an emerging technology into a practical solution for Malaysian businesses.
